EU funds in the new 2020+ financial perspective will include the new division of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship into two statistical units. The city and 70 communes comprising the \u201cWarsaw capital\u201d NUTS level (Warsaw and the nine neighbouring districts: Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Legionowo, Mi\u0144sk Mazowiecki, Nowy Dw\u00f3r Mazowiecki, Otwock, Piaseczno, Pruszk\u00f3w, West Warsaw, and Wo\u0142omin) have just begun working on the preparation of \u201cThe strategic action plan for Greater Warsaw in the context of programming and implementing the cohesion policy after 2020\u201d. Let us recall that so far the capital city has cooperated with 39 communes, with which it signed an agreement in 2014.<\/p>\n

On Thursday 22 February the first workshops were arranged for the representatives of communes, towns, and districts comprising the Warsaw Metropolitan Area, conducted by dr hab. Marta Lackowska and dr Katarzyna Szmigiel-Rawska from the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management of the University of Warsaw. The participants discussed the development priorities of Greater Warsaw and determined the framework for further cooperation and integration. Representatives of communes cooperating on the project under the Integrated Territorial Investments instrument shared their experience with the \u201cnew\u201d members of the NUTS region.<\/p>\n

The workshops will continue until May, and the joint work will result in the adoption of \u201cThe strategic action plan for Greater Warsaw in the context of programming and implementing the cohesion policy after 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n

The city is planning to further tighten the cooperation and sign a new cooperation agreement with all 70 local government bodies of the metropolitan area.<\/p>\n
