Local government bodies are preparing for the next round of competition for EU funds for the future operational programmes. Rafa\u0142 Trzaskowski, Mayor of Warsaw, and Adam Struzik, Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, opted for a single operational programme for the Mazowieckie Voivodeship consisting of two components.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAs local government officials from Greater Warsaw, we want to cooperate and take joint responsibility for the development of our region. We would like to be involved in each stage of developing strategic and operational documents for the new financial perspective of the European Union based on a realistic and sensible schedule,\u201d said Rafa\u0142 Trzaskowski, Mayor of Warsaw, and added, \u201cWe appeal for the inclusion in the draft National Regional Development Strategy measures supporting the development of voivodeship cities and their metropolitan areas\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the European Union, work is underway on the new budget to be available after 2020. The authorities of Masovia and Warsaw are pointing out that the division of funds and the determination of rules for the years 2021-2027 for Masovia should take into account the new statistical division (valid as of January 2018) into two regions. The communes and districts of Greater Warsaw are appealing for taking the position of local government bodies into consideration in programming the future financial perspective of the European Union for 2021-2027 and preparing the National Regional Development Strategy 2030 (NRDS). The draft Strategy for Responsible Development provides for the creation of the so-called ITI PLUS for the 2021-2027 financial perspective. The draft ITI PLUS will be of a strategic significance: \u201cto shape metropolitan development, to improve management, develop organisational improvements in the provision of agglomeration services, and conduct development analyses in the urban functional area, integrating measures funded from various sources, in particular measures outside the scope of tasks related to EU funds implementation\u201d.<\/p>\n

The communes of the Warsaw Metropolitan Area according to NUTS 2<\/h1>\n

In line with Commission Regulation (EU) 2016\/2066 of 21 November 2016, the Mazowieckie Voivodeship was divided into 2 NUTS2 statistical units. The first was the \u201cWarsaw capital\u201d NUTS level consisting of more than 70 communes: Warsaw and 9 districts near Warsaw (Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Legionowo, Mi\u0144sk Mazowiecki, Nowy Dw\u00f3r Mazowiecki, Piaseczno, Pruszk\u00f3w, West Warsaw and Otwock). The division will form a basis for the implementation of EU funds in the 2020+ financial perspective.<\/h2>\n
